Introduction

We at Bombay Hospital College of Nursing has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure. Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC will be a part of the institution’s system and work towards realisation of the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious and consistent overall performance of our College. For this, during the post-accreditation period, we will channelize all efforts and measures of the institution towards promoting its holistic academic excellence.

Objectives of the IQAC

The IQAC of Bombay Hospital College of Nursing is constituted to achieve the following objectives:

    • Development and application of quality benchmarks / parameters for the various academic and administrative activities of Bombay Hospital College of Nursing, Indore.
    • To act as an umbrellafor quality-related college activities and coordinate with all committees for the same.
    • Ensure internalization of the quality culture at Bombay Hospital College of Nursing.
    • Ensure enhancement and integration among the various activities of the College and institutionalize good practices.
    • Organization of workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
    • Documentation of the various programmes / activities at Bombay Hospital College of Nursing,  leading to quality improvement
    • To design OSCE for all academic courses  to test clinical skill performance and competence which is a  practical& real-world approach to learning and assessment. 
    • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) Of Bombay Hospital College of Nursing  based on the quality parameters developed by NAAC.
    • Collection and analysis of feedback responses from students, staff and other stakeholders.
    • Provide a sound basis for decision-making to improve institutional functioning

    • To promote research culture in our institution.
Role of Management, Principal and Faculty in Design and Implementation of its quality policy and plans

Role of Management

In order to fulfil Vision and Mission of the institution, Management plan Long term and Short term goals related to physical infrastructure, academic infrastructure, student facility and financial planning.

  • To provide necessary funding for the welfare of students and faculties.
  • To sanction the requirements of the college through College management committee.
  • To sanction for organization of conference everyyear related to quality health care.
  • Our college management committee makes every efforts to make sure that the institution continually offers the highest possible quality of education

Role of Principal

To help IQAC in the following;-

  • To organize an interactive session with faculty members following the guidelines given by College management committee.
  • Preparation and release of guidelines regarding all Academic activities
  • Preparation of list of committee coordinators for various academic activities and compilation of the same
  • To chair the meeting of committee coordinators for various academic tasks to discuss the plan of action for their respective responsibilities
  • To conduct interactive session with all faculty mentors regarding mentoring of students

Role of Coordinator

The role of the coordinator of the IQAC is also crucial in ensuring the effective functioning of all the members. The following are the roles and responsibilities carried by coordinator IQAC:-

  • To coordinate the dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education
  • To coordinate the documentation of the various programmes / activities leading to quality improvement
  • To coordinate the quality-related activities of the institution
  • To prepare the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) to be submitted to NAAC based on the quality parameters.
  • To coordinate the timely and efficient execution of the decisions of IQAC committee.
  • To coordinate the process of feedback from students, parents, teachers & alumni and to make necessary changes.
  • Uploading of Academic plans prepared by respective faculty members on the college portal for easy access to the students.

Role of Faculty

Faculty play important role in implementing IQAC policy of the Institution.

  • Faculty should follow all the guidelines given by IQAC Cell. Faculty should maintain discipline according to the institution’s rules and guidelines.
  • Faculty should ensure quality teaching learning processes and development of clinical skills among students.

Role of Alumni

  • The faculty should maintain good communication with the alumni and organize alumni meet annually.
  • The alumni should maintain good communication with faculty and the institution by providing information about latest trends in nursing and also job opportunities for various positions national and international.
  • They will maintain goodwill of the college.
  • They motivate students and take motivational classes for student.

Role of Students

  • Students are required to abide by norms, rules, guidelines related to discipline, punctuality, and regularity.
  • They have to meet the benchmarks to maintain good attendance, results and to develop required presentation skills.
  • Students to provide their feedback to remove any deficiencies in the course curriculumand teaching-learning process.

Role of Parents

  • To get involved in college feedback mechanism and fill the feedback form given to them.
  • To actively participate in all the college related activities, such as attending PTM, attending functions when invited.
  • To get involved in the code of conduct of college so as to enable their children to abide by the rules.

Frequency of Meeting

The IQAC should meet at least twice in a year

Quorum

The quorum for the meeting shall be two-third of the total number of members. The agenda, minutes and Action Taken Reports are to be documented with official signatures.

Guidelines for functioning of IQAC

    • Conduct IQAC meeting Twice a year.

    • Every year at the end of session IQAC has to be prepare AQAR and send it to NAAC using NAAC portal.
    • IQAC has to prepare plan of action for the next academic session along with Departments of the college.
    • Prepare master meeting schedule for all committees and make sure the meetings are organized and discussed plans are implemented accordingly and collect feedback.
    • At the end of the year collect report from all departments, committees such as grievance, curriculum, internal compliance, library committee, examination committee etc.
    • Conducts internal and external academic and administrative audit every year. Present the AQAR before the auditors and after audit submit the AQAR.
    • Plan and conduct IQAC meetings at least twice a year.
    • It is the prime responsibility of IQAC to initiate, plan and supervise various activities that are necessary to increase the quality of the education imparted in our college.
    • It has to promote and determine quality related activities and issues through various programmes and activities such as seminars, workshops, symposia, conferences, panel discussions, role playing exercises, (model) demonstrations, case studies, academic meetings and any such kind of event or programme for all the stakeholders of the institution.
